Bri Bri tribe

The world is full of surprises and the indigenous peoples of Costa Rica, the Bri Bri, are among those wonderful kind of surprises. In 2018 CCI and Yeladim Ha el Shaddai (our children’s division) began work with the tribal people of this beautiful country.

In a remote part of Costa Rica, along the Caribbean coast, extending nearly to Panama the Bri Bri have forested lands within their control. As with native people almost anywhere they have to fight to have a solid economy, advanced education and retain control over their land, their heritage and their culture. Since many of the tens of thousands of them still live deep in jungles and separated  by many hours from each other and from Costa Rica’s central covernment, these are difficult challenges for tribal leadership.

Covenant Children has come alongside local leaders and tribal authorities to help feed, clothe, educate and supply basic needs for these tribes as they maintain their historic identities.

Several trips to their lands have been a big thrill for our teams and have benefited the tribes greatly. Check our schedule to see when you can join a trip to Talamanca.
